Instantaneous reserves of power and torque are derived from two impressive power plants:
· A naturally aspirated, 4.4-litre, 300-hp V8 comes standard and features exceptional torque and extraordinary levels of performance.
· A 4.2-litre, 390-hp supercharged V8 is extremely responsive. It provides a broad spread of power, high acceleration and greater low-end torque for more progressive power on demand.
Advanced Brake Systems
Giving you a greater sense of confidence and control, Range Rover Sport is outfitted with the momentum-stopping capabilities of heat-dissipating, power-assist four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, with four-piston Brembo® front brakes standard on the Supercharged version. This advanced brake system also incorporates:
· Advanced four-channel, all-terrain ABS braking precisely monitors and responds to the braking performance of each wheel
· Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) senses the vehicle´s front/rear loading and adjusts front/rear brakeforce to optimize braking
· Cornering Brake Control (CBC) senses the vehicle´s lateral forces and adjusts side-to-side brakeforce to optimize braking when cornering
· Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) detects when a driver is in a panic braking situation and applies full braking, assisting the driver in bringing the vehicle to a secure stop
· Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) disengages automatically when the accelerator is pressed
Six-speed Automatic Transmission
Range Rover Sport features a sophisticated six-speed electronic automatic transmission with "Intelligent Shift" technology that automatically adapts to your unique driving style. Positive torque, available exclusively on the Supercharged Range Rover Sport, matches engine revs to reduce time between shifts.
The CommandShift™ transmission offers three modes of operation:
· Normal mode provides everyday performance for normal cruising and optimal fuel economy
· Sport mode increases responsiveness for acceleration on demand
· Manual mode offers manual gear shifting for maximum driver control
Electronic Air Suspension
Range Rover Sport´s sophisticated Electronic Air Suspension (EAS) with adjustable ride-height control offers automatic load-leveling for dynamic on-road performance and maximum off-road clearance. Four unique modes of operation are available:
· Optimum handling, comfort and ride height is achieved via Standard Mode
· Highway Mode automatically lowers the Range Rover Sport for better high-speed aerodynamics
· Access Mode automatically lowers the Range Rover Sport by 1.97 inches when parked, making it easier to enter and exit the vehicle
· Off-Road Mode raises both the front and rear for maximum ground clearance
· Access, standard, and off-road modes are driver selectable
High-capacity Towing
The muscular power of Range Rover Sport gives it an impressive maximum towing capacity of 7,700 pounds. You can even program the remote key fob to raise and lower the vehicle to make trailer connections easy.
Dynamic Response
Furthering the Supercharged Range Rover Sport´s ability to grip the road is the Dynamic Response™ suspension system. It substantially influences the vehicle´s on-road performance, without compromising Land Rover´s legendary off-road capabilities.
· By actively controlling the front and rear anti-roll bars, this system can minimize—and even eliminate—body roll in certain driving conditions, especially at high speeds.
· In off-road conditions, the system automatically "unhooks" the anti-roll bars for greater wheel travel, enhancing the ride performance and driver feedback on rough terrain.
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
Range Rover Sport features Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). DSC reduces engine power and applies ABS braking to individual wheels to help maintain control, should it detect a loss of lateral grip that could occur in a turn.
Progressive Steering System
Providing the ultimate steering feel in all conditions is the responsiveness of Range Rover Sport´s intelligent speed-sensitive variable-ratio steering. It also features positive center feel for more precise control.
· The speed-sensitive element provides nimbleness at low speeds for more agility.
· At higher speeds, weighting increases for more controlled turning.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Range Rover Sport is the first Land Rover to utilize the advanced technology of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Alert system.
· ACC matches the Range Rover Sport´s speed with the vehicle directly in front and automatically maintains the safe distance that you choose.
· The gap-setting button allows you to select between four safe vehicle following distances.
· Radar sensors incorporated into the front bumper scan the road up to 10 times per second to detect and lock in on the vehicle ahead of you.
· With the push of a button, Forward Alert can be activated, giving an audio or visual alarm when the Range Rover Sport is closing in on a vehicle.
· ACC lessens the need for driver intervention, letting you travel long distances in comfort.
4-wheel Electronic Traction Control
With ABS sensors, 4-wheel Electronic Traction Control (4ETC) detects wheel spin and applies the brake on the individual spinning wheel.
· It also redistributes power from spinning wheels to help gain more traction.
· With 4ETC, Range Rover Sport is able to continue moving, even when only one wheel has traction.
Active Roll Mitigation
The Active Roll Mitigation (ARM) system predicts when the vehicle is "light" on one side and utilizes braking systems to enhance stability and to prevent rollover.
Park Distance Control
The front and rear Park Distance Control (PDC) audibly alerts you to objects within close proximity when the vehicle is backing up or moving forward at low speeds.
