2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport Demonstrates Its Power

The 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport already has a reputation for being the perfect blend of practicality and luxury.  But one thing drivers may forget about during their everyday commutes and errands is that the Land Rover Discovery Sport is also an exceptionally powerful SUV - a point that was proven recently in a daring and drastic stunt that showcased what the vehicle is capable of.

Last month in the Rhine area of Switzerland, the Land Rover Discovery Sport celebrated winning its class at the UK Tow Car Awards, as well as the Land Rover Discovery being honored with the prestigious title of "Tow Car of the Decade."  But this celebration wasn't just to congratulate the makers of the compact SUV - it was also a chance for the model to really show its quality!  The Land Rover Discovery Sport completed a 10 kilometer journey while towing a 108-ton train.  For perspective, that's about the weight of a Boeing 757 airplane.  Not only that, but the 108-ton weight of the train was about 60 times the weight of the Land Rover Discovery Sport towing it.  Part of the journey took place on an 85-foot high bridge to further show off the SUV's driving technology, the incredibly powerful diesel engine it was outfitted with, and of course, its award-winning towing capacity.
